LIVESTOCK DIVISION 432 - 4-H CLOVERBUD MEMBER Breeding Evaluation 4-H Cloverbud Members are ages 5-8 years old. Participants must be enrolled in Madera County 4-H and have turned 5 years old by December 31st of the prior year. Participation Ribbon Only. CLASS 1 Obedience CLASS 2 Showmanship HORSE Horse Show with Gymkhana Events to Follow. SUNDAY, August 30th, check in 8:30 AM. The fair reserves the right to split day due to pending weather. INTENT TO SHOW DUE MAY 7TH, 2026 ONLINE ENTRIES DUE on or before August 7th, 2026 1. Horse showmanship is open to 4-H Members of Madera County 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters including 7th and 8th grade FFA members in a supervised vocational agricultural program and Independent exhibitors in horse events whose primary residence is in Madera Co. 2. Independent Exhibitors see Local Rule #4. 3. Horse Show & Gymkhana classes open to 4-H & FFA members and exhibitors who are residents from Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare, Fresno and Mariposa Counties. Horses, ponies and mules may be exhibited. 4. Riders must be sole owner of the horse, or have a long term lease on the horse. The horse can't be in training with a professional trainer. 5. Rider must have a minimum of 120 days consecutive days of possession prior to showing. 6. Proof of ownership or a copy of lease agreement must be sent in with intent to show forms by due date posted. 7. All Stallions will be excluded as will all other horses considered by the management to be unsafe among exhibitors. 8. No tie downs, draw reins, or martingales allowed in rail or trail classes. Tie downs allowed in gymkhana classes. 9. Horses 5 years old and younger may be shown in hackamore or snaffle bit. 10. No horse may be shown in any one class by more than one contestant. 11. Animals used in showmanship must be shown in another class by the same exhibitor. 12. Coaching and instructions by leaders or other adults given to a contestant during the judging of class will result in the elimination of that contestant. 13. **Post entries will be accepted up until the first class enters the ring each day. Post entry fee is $10.00 per class. Entries made on day of show must be paid in cash. 14. A properly fitted equestrian safety helmet that is ASTM/ SEI approved is required for all contestants in all classes. 15. Horses entered in this event may be subject to random drug testing at the discretion of the management. 16. NO DOGS are allowed at this event. 17. Place a red ribbon on your horse's tail if your animal is a kicker. 18. Lame horses will not be able to show at the discretion of the judge. 19. USEF & CGA Rule Books used as reference. DRESS: Official 4-H or FFA show uniform is required for showmanship and may be used in all other classes except English. English classes require appropriate English tack, boots, pants, white long sleeve shirt with the appropriate 4-H/FFA tie/scarf (jacket optional). All other classes, contestants may wear blue or black denim (Wrangler or Levi)pants with long sleeved white shirt, belt, boots, and appropriate 4-H/FFA tie or scarf are required. The classes for English, Western and Gymkhana will be divided as follows: 4-H JUNIOR - 9 and 10 years of age by end of prior year. 4-H INTERMEDIATE - 11- 13 years of age by end of prior year. 4-H ADVANCED - 14-18 years of age by end of prior year. FFA INTERMEDIATE - 7th, 8th & 9th and 10th Grade FFA ADVANCED - 11th grade and older. NOVICE - Any age 4-H/FFA. Rider has never shown at a lope or canter in any 4-H, FFA, breed or open showing Western, English or Gymkhana divisions. Limited to first year showing only. 1. All divisions show together in halter. 2. English Showmanship class count for high point English awards but do not qualify Exhibitors for Master Showmanship. 3. Highest halter classes placing used as tie breaker in calculating high point awards. 4. High Point is based on exhibitor, not specific horses. 5. Classes with low entries may be combined and/or eliminated.
