ER COLLETS & HOLDERS
ER Tap Collets:  
NOTE: Collet bore exactly matches tap shank diameter  
and square size. These collets have no clamping range
•	 Collet bore is the exact tool diameter, with a square drive
•	 Special design locks flat-sided tap shanks into the collet
•	 Provides maximum concentricity, with positive driving force
•	 Reduces tapping clearance requirements 
ER Sealed Collets: 
NOTE: Collet bore exactly matches tool shank diameter.  
These collets have no clamping range
•	 Fit all Haas ER collet chucks 
•	 Ensure that 100% of through-tool coolant gets to the tip of the tool 
•	 Approved for high-pressure coolant up to 1100 psi (76 bar)
•	 Short rear collet slots create a mechanical seal that minimizes 
unwanted coolant leakage. 
•	 Mechanical seal does not wear out, unlike  
silicone/rubber sealed collets
•	 Proper seal requires inserting entire tool shank to cover all slots
•	 No special ER nut or coolant ring required
Collet Selection Guidelines:
•	 Collets are available individually or in kits
•	 Collet series is determined by the toolholder ER-taper size (8, 11, 16, 20, 
25, 32, 40)
•	 Collet bore diameter is determined by the cutting tool shank diameter
 
ER Straight Bore Collets:  
Collets are flexible; bore accepts a range of tool shank diameters
•	 Compatible with any type of smooth-shank round tool 
•	 High accuracy and low runout
NOTE: Use the tightest collet available for any given tool shank. This 
provides the greatest tool-to-collet contact area, while minimizing runout in 
the assembly, e.g., for a 12mm tool shank, use a 12-11mm collet  
instead of 13-12mm.
ER Collet Clamping Range:
•	 ER8: 0.012 – 0.187" (0.5 – 5mm)
•	 ER11: 0.020 – 0.315" (0.5 – 8mm)
•	 ER16: 0.020 – 0.394" (0.5 – 10mm)
•	 ER20:  0.043 – 0.5" (0.5 – 12mm)
